Irma & Scott Reader Concert
Scott & Irma Reeder return for Christmas performance Dec. 17th
Scott and Irma Reeder have been performing together for four decades and have a special connection to NMT and St Paul’s United Methodist Church here is Socorro. They actually met at St Paul’s as students at NMT. They will be joining the congregation at St Paul’s for a Christmas themed musical performance on Sunday, December 17th at 10am. We hope everyone will join us for this special event.
Scott & Irma’s musical interests include Celtic, Traditional and Contemporary Christian, Classical, Pop, Old-Time Country and More! They also enjoy sharing their music in churches, nursing homes, and critical care units. In addition they teach a variety of instruments to people of all skill levels, as well as vocal performance.
Irma began competing in Dulcimer competitions and won the 2009 Colorado State and Texas State Championships, the 2016 Southern Regional Championship in Mountain View, Arkansas at the Ozark Folk Center. At the National Mountain Dulcimer Championship at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield Kansas, Irma tied for 4th place in 2018 and placed 3rd in 2021.
Scott is also an accomplished musician and has led weekly church music with Irma for 35 years. Scott & Irma won the 2016 Southern Regional Ensemble Championship in Mountain View, Arkansas. He has taught guitar, hammered dulcimer, bowed psaltry and penny whistle as well as instrument amplification and sound system design and operation.
