“And now, Master God, being the God you are, speaking sure words as you do, and having just said this wonderful thing to me, please, just one more thing: Bless my family; keep your eye on them always. You’ve already as much as said that you would, Master God! Oh, may your blessing be on my family permanently!” 2 Samuel 7:28-29 (MSG)
This is a fantastic prayer. David is praying to God for God’s blessing because of the promise made to him. David is leaning on God’s promises and praying boldly. David is unashamed of how he prays to God with complete faith. How often do we do this? Do we stop to pray with courage or do we simply pray without feeling?
There are times in life when we begin to doubt our abilities. Perhaps someone says something critical and we take their words to heart causing us to not do the work the Lord calls us to do. It may cause us to become despondent and lose our joy. We face circumstances in our lives that tempt us to make decisions that are not in our best interest. God promises we will not be tempted beyond what we can bear so how do we handle these moments that test us? There is a myriad of things that come into our lives that cause us to not make good decisions.
Beloved, God provides a way out of all things through prayer. We must pray with boldness and courage when we are faced with temptation. “God, I know when I face _________ You have given me the power to overcome the temptation/doubt. Help me stay in your promise. Help me resist temptation/doubt. I believe in Your power to resist the things that are not good for me. May your blessing always be on me.”
Pray with confidence. Pray boldly. Pray with the courage that we have been given in the name of Jesus Christ.
