As much as I try to be a shining example in the world of what living a life filled with the Spirit can look like, I fail often. I recently had an experience at my doctor’s office that allowed me to not show my best side. I was in the wrong. I failed miserably at being a person who treats others with respect. My emotions got the best of me and my visit ended with tears. My heart is so heavy at how badly I failed my God.

It is in times like these that I go to the Psalms and in our readings this week, Psalm 51 is a perfect Psalm for my heart.

“Create in me a clean heart for me, God; put a new, faithful spirit deep inside me! Please don’t throw me out of your presence; please don’t take your holy spirit away from me. Return the joy of your salvation to me and sustain me with a willing spirit” (Psalm 51:10-12 CEB).

Each day we are given is a chance to live our lives in a way that is pleasing to Christ. I am grateful for another day that I have breath. It is another day that allows me to redeem my actions and make a difference in the world. Yes, there will be days that all of us fail miserably, but what we do next is of the utmost importance.

If you are out in the world and find yourself not being the best version of yourself possible, remember that His mercies are new every morning.

Grace and peace, Beloved,

Pastor Cazandra
